welcome
Together we form a big family called
„Moldova” Special High School – UNIQUE IN MOLDOVA, THE BEST IN THE COUNTRY!
________________________________________
Moldova – refers to the Western Moldavia region, which is part of Romania; not to the Republic Of Moldova.

WHY ARE WE HERE?
Because we, students of all ages, found here a place where we can study and grow together in harmony with ourselves and with society. Our needs and personalities are respected and represent a starting point in what our school offers.
activ1
We all have one thing in common: we see the world differently from the rest of the people. Literally speaking, some of us see it a little blurry, others see it like watching through a tube and others „see” it through touch and sound. This is the fact that makes us different from the rest of the people, who are not visually impaired. But, also, there are many other aspects that make us the same: the joy of childhood and adolescence, hopes and dreams, the love that we need and which we want to share with the rest of the people and, last but not least, the wish to become somebody.
activ2
Because we, the teachers, understand the importance of differentiated and adapted education according to each student’s needs; we know that today’s child, being supported and
guided, will become tomorrow’s adult; an adult that will manage to create a better society and a more opened and flexible one. Together we take part in modelling a more upright and harmonious personality.

WHAT ARE WE DOING HERE?
Here is the place where we grow, develop and find answers to questions that bother our minds. We do not learn only subjects that are studied at normal schools like: Romanian language and literature, foreign languages, sciences (math, physics, and chemistry), history, geography, biology, psychology, philosophy etc., but also things that might seem simple and ordinary to you, but which are very important to us.
activ3
We learn to be independent! Starting from moving independently or with the help of our cane, passing through the „room” of personal hygiene, up to cooking for ourselves and for our friends and family. We also learn how to sing, to make nice fimo objects, to use the origami technique, to play football, goalball, tennis,
chess etc.
activ3
Each and every one of us tries to find our own path in life, by being guided by the motto PER ASPERA, AD ASTRA!
We, the teaching staff, are guides and partners in the „growth” and development process of our students. This process also helps us to develop our abilities and skills both from a professional point of view, as well as from a personal point of view. We define ourselves as professionals and also as social persons. Our students help us keep our childhood joy alive, our optimistic views and our innocence.

A DAY IN OUR LIFE, YOU ASK?
We have to start by mentioning that for many of our students our school is like their second home. Being the only school that is prepared to deal with visually impaired students, we have gathered them from all the counties of Moldova: Iaşi,
Botoşani, Suceava, Neamţ, Vaslui, Bacău, Galaţi. And because of this reason we are a boarding school with: 28 dorms which provide students all the necessary accommodations and the cafeteria employees offer them good and healthy food.
activ6
Classes start at 8 A.M in the morning.
We have: 15 classrooms, 8 specialized labs: history and philosophy, foreign languages, Romanian, geography, math, biology and chemistry and computer science, which await the students to discover the mysteries of the world. The gym class does not only provide an appropriate space for doing all kinds of sports but it is also has fitness equipment which allows students to keep a healthy body.
The elementary school students finish classes at 12 P.M. The pupils have lunch between 12 P.M and 3 P.M and afterwards they can play or nap.
Students from middle school and high school finish classes at 1 P.M and 2 P.M, having some spare time until 4 P.M. Tutoring and therapy programs end between 7 P.M and 8 P.M. Also specific recovery therapy programs are held in the afternoon. The educators guide and
help students to do their homework and the tutors help those who have learning difficulties in order for them to succeed in grasping the curriculum, or they help the new students to learn Braille.
activ7
The psychopedagogues are the ones that offer us and the students the support and guidance that we need, through specific compensation therapies like: polysensorial and psychomotor education, orientation and mobility and cognitive therapies etc. Physiotherapy is also a part of the specific recovery therapies that is included in our program; and for this too we have a highly equipped room.
activ8
Furthermore, during the afternoon activities the students have access in the two studios that are designed for social and personal development like: gastronomy and personal hygiene. The gastronomy studio was equipped by the Peace Corp (USA) and the sponsor that funds our school from the beginning of our activities is COSELI S.A. Peace Corp has also equipped our hygiene studio and sponsored different school events.
Art-therapy workshops within the ARTOPED project are a place where students make origami and fimo objects. These workshops want to develop the aesthetic skills of the students bymaking them create jewelry and decorations.
activ9
Our instrumental group and „VOX” band offer those students that are interested in music and also the ones that have musical potential the opportunity to develop and to perfect their talent. Also, our drama club called „SCENA (THE SCENE)” delights us each time with well picked plays and with their great interpretations. The awards that the students won at various competitions demonstrate us that this is not only a necessary and useful skill, but it is also a very promising start for the students’ future.
activ10
All of these activities help form and develop the personalities of the students, help to discover their qualities and their potential. In all our actions we keep in mind the fact that today’s student is tomorrow’s adult.

WHAT DO WE DO IN OUR SPARE TIME?

Although we really do not have much spare time, our students having a really busy schedule by participating in various school projects, they show us that if you really want something, you can
achieve it.
activ11
Among our various activities we will list only a few of them:
– School Olympics for the visually impaired,
– Trivia, music and drama competitions,
– White Cane Day,
– School Day,
– School parties:
– Freshman Dance,
– Christmas Parties,
– 8th of March parties,
– Children’s Day etc.,
– Special Olympics,
– ARTOPED,
– School trips.
activ12
We also try to involve parents in our activities, because family is the partner that we always want near us.
activ13
Are we perfect? Of course not! We make mistakes from which we try to learn something, we are mischievous because this is one way of learning the rules and the laws of society. We fight and get angry at each other and even with ourselves, because this is another way to learn new things about ourselves and about others.
